Straw Rockets

Hey Everyone!
So the past couple of days I have been working on straw rockets. The matterials used were: clay, straws (different size straws), a liter bottle, paper, and scissors. You take the straw and put into the liter bottle and seal the bottle off with the clay, make a rocket with the other straw and seal off the end with the rest of the clay. Make three different types of rockets and shoot them off. When you are done with shooting each of the rockets off, record the distance and get the average. When i shot my rockets off, the ones with to much clay at the top were top heavy and took a nose dive. The one that didn't went much farther. Good Luck! :)

Paper Rockets

Well I have been working on paper rockets. The supplies needed would be tape, a pencil, a straw, and paper. You cut a strip of paper the full length of the paper and twirl it around the the pencil, Oh! and make sure that your pencil is larger than your straw so that the straw can fit inside of it. After you twirl the paper around the pencil, tape it in three places so that the paper does not come undone. Then you take the paper off of the pencil and fold the top over so that it comes to a point. And then finally stick the straw into the rocket and blow into the straw. Make three different rockets and test each rocket three times, then record your average scores. Have Fun! :)

Rockets and Parachutes

Hey Everyone!
It's been awhile since I posted. Well last week I worked on Rocket and their thrust. So I took a orange juice carton, tape, contruction paper. You cut out of the construction paper a cone for the top of the rocket and triangles for the sides of the rocket. Also you are supposed to cut a hole in the bottom of the carton to stick a ballon in it to make it move. Whe I tried that, I didn't even move. So we got a card board box and cut openings on each side of the box and attched a rubberband striaght accross the back of the box to sling shot it out of the box. After we did that, I was supposed to attach a parachute on the end of the rocket with string, When I did that I realized that it slowed the force of the rocket down almost half.
